Theatres
Using Sapphire Flame Retardant for treating your stage curtains in theatres, school halls, cinema seats, theatrical productions and movie sets, you can be rest assured knowing you have fire protection. Our Class 1 flame retardant for fabric has been SANS 10177 tested for 10 minutes under a flame with minimal release of smoke, no ignition and no flame spread for the entire period. Most flame retardants on the market operates from as little as 7 seconds up to 23seconds. Sapphire Flame Retardant is flame resistant.
Intumescent treatments on steel
Sapphire Flame Retardant cc is a passive fire protection company in the market. We complete treatments on site. There are specifications for intumescent treatments which is determined by fire consultants and requested from fire departments. We use products best suited for treatments and compliance with SANS 10400 part T for new and existing structures from 30 minutes up to 120 minutes fire rated resistance.
Mezzanie Floors (Wooden)
Sapphire Flame Retardant cc has unique treatment for these hazardous floors in-case of a fire. The treatment recommended is intumescent paint because it is fire rated for long periods. We have our unique and personal Fire-Resistant System for wooden floors. We first treat the raw timber boards with our own unique clear water-based, halogen-free flame retardant called FiremanBrand™ Flame Guard. Even though the intumescent treatment has been tested on wood, with us using both products there is a remarkable fire resistance at the bottom of the mezzanine flooring, and we use FiremanBrand™ Flame Guard recommended application on the top of the flooring. We are proud and guarantee certification for our unique system for wooden mezzanine flooring.

Natural wood will always be classified as a combustible component in all buildings. FiremanBrand™ Flame Guard is specifically formulated to be Halogen-Free. It works by treating raw natural wood to inhibit combustion and flame spread. When the treated wood is exposed to heat or flame, our product causes it to form a dense, protective layer of char. FiremanBrand™ Flame Guard delivers this remarkable protection while still maintaining the patina and natural look of the wood. We combine FiremanBrand™ Flame Guard and intumescent paint for the bottom of wooden mezzanine floors.
